Sunday Not-So-Scaries: May 10

Spring is really here now in New Jersey, JK it’s freezing outside. It felt so good to open up the windows last weekend, but hopefully the warm weather makes its way back soon. Oh, but I’d like to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all of the mommas & momma figures out there!

I’ve been trying to stay busy, but a slow busy. Mostly reading some books after work. I just finished reading Young House Love’s Lovable, Livable Home. It gave me so many ideas for when we can complete all of our half-finished home renovations that we started at the beginning of the shutdown. We’ve been refraining from heading to the stores for supplies, so we’re just working with what we’ve got, but if you are doing that it’s totally OK! We just don’t feel comfortable. Here’s a little sneak peek of our guest bedroom:

Admittedly, not a great before pic. But the walls were a gray/blue.
In progress.
Still in progress, but Winnie is happy to have “her” room back for now.

I found out that a local bookstore at the Jersey Shore is participating in an alternative platform for audiobook subscriptions. There’s a lot of indie bookstores on the platform, too, if you’re looking to make a switch.

I’m loving Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast right now. Lots of fun interviews on there.

I just bought these house numbers from Schoolhouse. I emailed them to ask for advice on which bracket/display options to go with and they were so quick to respond and super helpful.

I just bought this swimsuit from J. Crew (they were having a 60% off sale at the time). It’ll likely only see my backyard this summer, but that’s OK!

I also just ordered this shirt from my FAVORITE Instagram amphibian Toby Toad. If you don’t follow him, I can’t recommend it enough. He’s adorable and his posts just bring me so much joy.

Did you see that Walt Disney’s Palm Springs house is up for sale? IT’S SO DREAMY!

We couldn’t be with our families this year for Mother’s Day while we’re social distancing, so we sent out gifts instead. A few I liked were from Harry & David, The Sill and Insomnia Cookies (they offer gluten free options, AND I was able to find a $20 off coupon for one of the cookie orders). It’s certainly not the same, but sending gifts to the mommas in my life made me feel good. We have a lot of video chats scheduled today with our families and I’m really looking forward to “seeing” everyone.

I hope you all have a beautiful Sunday!
