One Sweater, Three Ways

I’ve been working from home since March, and not really leaving my house for much of anything so it’s not really surprising that I fell into the routine of not getting dressed the way I used to in the “before times.” My go-to has been leggings and t-shirts with cardigans. But I’ve been trying more and more to wear more put together outfits lately, even if no one besides my husband and cat will see them. One thing I value about fashion is getting more bang for my buck. I love wearing the same pieces over and over and over again, but I also really try to mix them up when I can. I definitely have some unique pieces in my closet, but I tend to buy versatile things that I can throw together in different ways. I’m going to show you how to pull together three different outfits with one black sweater. Easy peasy! This sweater is my new favorite. It’s $69.95 from Madewell, and it’s also currently on sale! Not only is it …

Casual Halloween Outfits

Over the last 7+ months of being home I’ve been wearing leggings, leggings and more leggings. One thing I want to trying to do a little bit more is get dressed at least once a week for the heck of it. Sometimes I really miss putting together something fun to wear and heading into work and trading outfit compliments with my coworkers. This is obviously the very least of my quarantine worries, but there’s no right way to measure how this effects us. Covid times are so strange. Not only have I been getting dressed up way less, but with Halloween rolling around I haven’t even made up a costume. Halloween costumes can be really fun, but embarrassingly I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in a very long time. Over the recent years when things got busy or parties dwindled, I just took to wearing some kind of Halloween-themed outfit and called it a day. But even still, it always brought me joy and boosted my Halloween spirit. One thing I’ll say about my fashion …

Clean Nail Polish from Target

Olive & June in TT $7.46, vegan, 7-free and cruelty free. Made in Korea. I wanted to love this one — the packaging is cute and I see it everywhere it seems. Plus, for a clean nail polish it’s on the more affordable end. However, this one turned out to be a miss for me. Maybe it was the light color I chose? The wand is much wider than traditional nail polish, which I actually liked. But it didn’t seem to go on very smooth, it felt very thick, and it took a lot of coats for the color to look right to me. It does not dry quickly, and every time I thought they were dry I was wrong and smudged them up. ella + mila Elite collection in Little Plum Dress $10.49, vegan, 7-free and cruelty free. Made in the U.S. Goes on smoothly, but needs a lot of coats. Not sure if that had more to do with the darker color I chose, though. Out of the three, this one chipped the …

Wearing Glasses on Your Wedding Day

I went back and forth with the idea of getting contacts specifically for my wedding or just wearing my glasses for most of my two year engagement. I’ve been wearing glasses for over 20 years and more than half of that time I’ve been wearing the same style: black thick rimmed glasses. It’s kind of my thing since the early 2000’s and I’m probably never letting it go, to be honest. I asked Tom at one point what he thought I should do and he suggested that I wear my glasses. It’s what I’m most comfortable in. It’s what I’m seen in the most. And that’s the assurance I needed, even though I was going to do what I wanted no matter what anyway haha. I want to tell you that if you’re on the fence to just put your damn glasses on and work that aisle. But it can be hard, especially with the way that society has depicted glasses-wearing folks for years (um hello, She’s All That) as unpretty or nerdy (which is …

My Skin Care Favs

Long before I was home all day every day (forever and ever?), I had a pretty low maintenance makeup skin care routine. I’ve since amped up the skincare part, but broke up with makeup for the time being. I generally wore minimal makeup during the workweek to begin with and often only applied a full face of makeup on the weekends if I was going out. ‘Member going out? I’ve had breakouts from a young age and have been on an endless journey to find the best products possible for my skin. I cringe when I think about all of the harsh things I’ve used over the years — I went through a straight up rubbing alcohol phase (!!!!!!!!) as a teen. So needless to say, I’m doing a lot of cleanup. That cleanup process has been including a lot more earth friendly, skin friendly, cruelty-free products. I’m not perfect and I’m still learning — but here are a few I’m using allllll the time these days while I’m home.

Buying Vintage Clothes Online

If there’s one thing I’m usually on the hunt for, it’s something vintage. There’s something about finding the perfect piece that no one else is wearing that is just so exciting for me. My collection isn’t very big, but I do love the pieces that I have. Over the last year I’ve found it a little more difficult to find vintage clothes in my size. It can be pretty frustrating, but I’m here to tell you that plus size vintage is not a unicorn, you just have to have some tools under your belt and a bit of patience.
