November Reads

It’s almost December, y’all! Which means it’s almost the end of the year already.  Is anyone else happy to see this year make its way out the door? I know I am. Good. Riddance! This month I got a little more reading in. Usually when the holidays roll around is when I read the least. I get so busy that I can’t sit down and have a minute to myself. But not this year – which is a weird double-edged sword. While I love the extra time I have, I’m sad that life is a little different this holiday season. We will get through it, though one book at a time. Here’s a few of the books I curled up with this month: Open Book by Jessica Simpson I have heard soooo many people recommend this memoir and WHEW was it salacious! I was for sure a little teeny-bopper when I was a kid in the 90s and while I do remember Jessica Simpson hitting the scene, I don’t recall listening to her a lot. …

Sunday Not-So-Scaries: November 1

Well, hello November! I kind of love November, honestly. Really, I love all the fall and winter months, because I’m a fan of the cooler weather. I’m always sad when Halloween is over, though. Yesterday I took two of my nephews out trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. I brought a mask with me and the majority of the houses had candy in bowls to be socially distant. We still said trick-or-treat to all of the decorations, though haha. After we filled up their buckets, I went home to watch some scary movies. It was a fun little full-moon, quarantine Halloween for sure. Today I’ll be taking all of my Halloween decor down (RIP). But in a few weeks Christmas will be up. Or maybe sooner. Probably sooner. I just ordered this tree for our living room. I love the rose gold! Tom was now feeling the bubble gum pink one I wanted, so we compromised haha. We started a tradition last year of going out to a tree farm and cutting down our own tree. So …

Summer Reading: July

Happy August! I’d ask how we’re already here, but honestly, the days are blurring together and the only way I know it’s August is it’s HOT HOT HOT here in NJ right now. Anyway, I’ve been getting my reading ON, y’all! Just ripping through stories left and right and loving it. What’s better than sitting outside for a little while with a book and some sunblock and escaping for a bit? Or more often for me it’s lying in bed at 3 am with a blanket over my phone to kill the light and reading a library book until my eyes get heavy. I do what I have to do. Here’s what I read in July.

Sunday Not-So-Scaries: May 10

Spring is really here now in New Jersey, JK it’s freezing outside. It felt so good to open up the windows last weekend, but hopefully the warm weather makes its way back soon. Oh, but I’d like to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all of the mommas & momma figures out there! I’ve been trying to stay busy, but a slow busy. Mostly reading some books after work. I just finished reading Young House Love’s Lovable, Livable Home. It gave me so many ideas for when we can complete all of our half-finished home renovations that we started at the beginning of the shutdown. We’ve been refraining from heading to the stores for supplies, so we’re just working with what we’ve got, but if you are doing that it’s totally OK! We just don’t feel comfortable. Here’s a little sneak peek of our guest bedroom: I found out that a local bookstore at the Jersey Shore is participating in an alternative platform for audiobook subscriptions. There’s a lot of indie bookstores on the …
